Marauders, the unforgiving cooperative first-person shooter about gas-mask-wearing space pirates from World War I, launches into Early Access on Steam next week, with a release date set for October 3. You’ll play as raider squads breaking into fortified space stations, grabbing everything they can and destroying anyone who gets in your way, in other words, the usual weekend activity.
Marauders is a wild mix of influences: set in an alternate version of history in the 1990s, where the Great War never ended, but space travel evolved far beyond where we were in our boring old timeline. However, like ours, the Marauder’s Land universe is on the verge of total collapse.
In other words, you have to make your way through remote stations scattered throughout the asteroid belt. Inside you will find materials and equipment that can be disassembled and transformed into better equipment and weapons. Equipment is permanent and you can use the experience gained to unlock new things to craft.
You will also have upgraded ships that you can use to fly into air battles with other players. You can build them yourself or steal from other players. Up there is a world where marauders eat marauders.
Players who reserve Marauders can start attacking today. Everyone else will have to wait until October 3.
