The new Terraria 1.4.4 update mini-biome and the liquid it contains amaze the community with its magical appearance and amazing effects. Terraria’s Labor of Love 1.4.4 update is finally out, bringing another big round of changes to one of the best creation games on PC. Players are digging into the latest patch to play around with all the new quality of life features and discover all the secrets not mentioned in the Terraria 1.4.4 patch notes.
One of those hidden features was a new liquid – it was mentioned in passing, but the team didn’t elaborate on what it would be or how it would affect the world. Whitney “Sanks” Spinks, Vice President of Re-Logic mentioned that she considered it the best of the hidden additions and said she was eager to see how the community would react to its discovery.
Suffice to say, it’s unbelievably cool, and given its secretive nature, we’re honestly warning you that we’re now going to dive into territory spoiler below that paragraph, so if you want the new update to go unnoticed, all we’ll tell you is to keep an eye out for any shiny areas you might come across as you explore its new worlds.
Glitter, that is. This new pearly purple liquid can be found in a medium sized lake in a small biome called Aether. This mini-biome will spawn once per new world and will appear somewhere in a cave layer on the same side of the world as the jungle biome. You’ll know it when you get close to it thanks to the amazing visual effect: the dark areas in the background appear almost transparent and behind them there are flashes that make it look like you’re staring into space.
We definitely don’t want to reveal everything Shimmer is capable of, though if you want to know more, the Terraria wiki already has a pretty comprehensive list thanks to extensive player testing. Flicker causes a wide range of magical effects on objects and creatures imbued with it. This includes changing the appearance of NPCs in the city, transforming enemies into others, and in some cases even creating new special items.
These new items include a Life Crystal that is created when you cast a Life Crystal on the Shimmer that permanently increases your health regeneration, and Ambrosia, the mythical food of the gods created by spreading any type of food with Shimmer, which can be used to permanently increase your mining speed and tile placement. Some other items and creatures have unique effects; for example, shooting stars simply bounce off the shiny surface. It can even be used to craft unique items, building bricks, and ammo.
Again, we won’t reveal all of Shimmer’s secrets that she may end up moving and taking with her once you’ve created a custom cube for her. Go ahead and start adding items. Let us know what your favorite transformations of him are! If you’re feeling really brave, you can even take a dip in the radiant lavender lake on your own, just make sure you’re ready for the outcome.
If you’re just getting started with the new update, we’ve got all the Terraria bosses in order so you know what to prepare for. Our Happiness Guide for Terraria should help you make the most of your fellow NPC favors, and if you’re already craving more than just all the new 1.4.4 updates, then our pick of the best Terraria mods has plenty to hold on to.
