To celebrate the announcement of the release date, developer Color Gray has released an extended demo on Steam that features a never-before-seen puzzle game.

The Case of the Golden Idol is a narrative detective game set in an alternate 18th century England where players must investigate 11 of the most bizarre and gruesome deaths over the course of forty years. Something terrible links these tragedies, providing the player with the opportunity to unravel a wider mystery. Each case is presented as a momentary scene frozen in time. Players are free to view these scenes in any way they want to determine the suspect, motive, and timeline of events. The player’s theory is then put into an interactive notebook, which in turn informs the player whether their theory is correct or not.
By testing players’ ability to think critically, gather important clues, and interpret clues that will be the key to their success, addictive gameplay will help uncover the true nature of the mysterious Golden Idol and those who covet it. Follow the forty-year journey of a cursed aristocratic family as you unravel a web of deceit and villainy in search of the truth behind this dark conspiracy.
