Users Say Roblox Desktop App Is Very Boring

Recently, a new Roblox desktop app became available to all users. The app, which has been in beta testing for a long time, is designed to unify and standardize how Roblox works across different platforms. Officially known as the Roblox Universal App, it is designed to provide a seamless experience between browsing and gaming, and allows the company to easily push updates across desktop, mobile, and PC.

However, gamers were highly critical of the app after it was released. Some suggest that they don’t want Roblox to “force” them to use it, and they don’t like how Roblox forces them to do it face-to-face. Many complain that it creates more problems than it solves.

One of the best things about Roblox has always been that the games are accessed through a browser, which then runs the games in a browser window. After years of launching Roblox this way, it’s no surprise that people are annoyed by the constant suggestions to use the new universal Roblox app.

The main goal of a universal app is to provide a consistent experience no matter what device a person is playing on. But some Roblox denizens have complained that the desktop app feels like a mobile port. In design, it resembles the Roblox mobile interface, which speaks to the consistency that the developers hoped to establish when implementing the app.

The desktop app supposedly increases the loading speed of the game, but there seem to be major issues even if it does. KreekCraft, one of the most popular Roblox content creators on YouTube, suggested that the app causing problems with your recording settings. (He has since said that he reached out to Roblox and is happy with where the app is heading.)

Redditor noted that if they access the app from a computer without a mouse, they can’t scroll down using only the trackpad. Also, if the player closes the game, they will be constantly reminded that they can go back to explore other Roblox games from within the app instead of having to close the game immediately.

Also, the mobile client does not include advanced trading, hairstyle, or avatar options, which is especially annoying for people who use these features frequently. Players can’t use expansions with it either, which is a problem for players who use such expansions for things like tracking down limited digital collectibles in the Avatar Shop.

Some people claim that the app slows down their computer, while others point out that the interface just isn’t great. There are also no ads, which can be good for users who don’t want to see ads, but bad for developers who rely on ads to help people find their games.

Ultimately, the disconnect is that many people choose to access Roblox from a browser simply for the versatility of browser access. In other words, it’s just more convenient.

At some point, it turned out that there was a way to bypass the popup prompting players to download the app, which they could do by logging in as administrator. However, the company reportedly fixed this process and continues to push the app on users despite their complaints.

Like many changes in the digital age, it seems likely that gamers will adapt to the desktop client over time. People are often initially reluctant to change when it comes to digital products. They often begin to adapt as soon as they realize the benefits of such changes.
