The English football club Sheffield Wednesday, which has been playing in the First Football League (English third division) since 2021, has announced the creation of its eSports team. According to the club’s official announcement, Sheffield Wednesday Esports will compete in FIFA 23 1v1 (The FIFA Global Series) and 11v11 (Pro Clubs).

In addition, the club nominated Rob Howden – Head of Esports. Howden joins English football club Rotherham United after four and a half years as head of the team’s esports project. According to the club, Howden created a grassroots esports initiative to find talent in and around Sheffield.
