Valve’s official Steam Deck finally sees the light of the sun

official valve steam bridge The docking station is a coveted accessory, and fans have been hoping to get their hands on it since the Pocket PC launched. Now it looks like the wait is coming to an end, as the accessory was spotted at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The pier was originally scheduled to arrive in late spring, and while there are great alternatives out there, some of you are still waiting for the “real” thing.

Reddit user ElderberryLarge9104 took a photo of the Steam Deck at TGS, and another post on another post showing the Valve accessory in more detail. From this angle, you can see the ports provided such as DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB-C. Its official status doesn’t mean it will automatically become the best Steam Deck, but we’re curious to see what it has to offer compared to Jsaux’s offerings.

There’s currently no indication of when the dock will arrive, and ElderberryLarge9104 didn’t provide any details about what they saw outside of these two photos. And of course, since this is the internet, some users have already raised concerns about the lack of USB-C ports.

The reason for the delay, according to Valve, was the lack of spare parts caused by COVID-19. Thankfully, third-party options like the Jsaux Steam Deck Dock have similar features, like delivering 100W of power and the ability to run games at 4K 60fps. Compatible Belkin and Anker USB-C hubs are also an option, though they’re not really built with the Steam Deck in mind.

Alternatives aside, it’s nice to see Valve’s Steam Deck in person, and its TGS look means it’s no longer virtual software. All we need now is the exact release date and price, the latter of which may be interesting due to its official status.
