3D Realms has released a Phantom Fury trailer showcasing the sequel to Ion Fury, a classic first-person shooter inspired by Half-Life and the original Duke Nukem Forever, to create an epic first-person road movie adventure. Thanks to the work of former Valve Half-Life concept artist Chuck Jones, who was hired by 3D Realms to work on the project, Phantom Fury wears his love of classic PC games on its sleeve.
In Phantom Fury, protagonist Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison awakens from her coma and travels across the United States in search of a dangerous artifact known as the Demon Core. Oh, we should mention that she now has a bionic arm too, why not? Developer Slipgate Ironworks, led by former Rise of the Triad director Frederick Schreiber, promises an “incredible amount of interactivity” in the world, from fully usable computers and arcade machines to helicopter rides.
Over 20 weapons at your disposal, including favorites like portable bowling bombs, and new additions like “electrified foam launchers and deployable drones” that offer a variety of unique approaches to situations. A plethora of unlockable abilities and upgrades promise even more ways to customize your playstyle, and you’ll need them to take on the weird and wonderful horrors that await.
