Valorant’s Bind map is an iconic location in the popular first-person shooter, but one fan has reimagined a Moroccan neighborhood with a nightlife vibe. While it may not be practical to play matches in the dark, the design certainly gives the shooter a distinctly horror-gaming twist.
A video posted by Valorant fan Atomk1 shows Bind completely revamped with Unreal Engine 5, but this time at night. The Valorant fan also adds lots of little touches like animated trees, breaking air conditioning units, and quiet water sounds to give the new nighttime look a more exciting and spooky feel.
Bind’s darkness is illuminated by various lights attached to buildings and from above, but even that isn’t enough to illuminate every nook and cranny. There are a variety of corners players can hide in to avoid detection, which begs the question of whether night mode will be viable.
Bind is one of Valorant’s biggest maps, and with the addition of darkness it can become a game of hide-and-seek in its long corridors and secluded areas. On Reddit, a user praised the intimidating aspect of the map: “Damn, it looks amazing! Some of it sounds scary. Very well done and good job.”
Another said he’s worried about how matches will play out at night: “That’s why night-themed maps can be pretty bad in the game because it’s so dark you can hide in a corner and dress up.”
There are no maps in Valorant that take place at night, and while Riot is teasing the possibility of a night map, there are no official plans in development. While this may provide some intriguing design concepts, there are probably too many factors that compromise the competitive viability of such a card.
