Many of the carefully crafted builds of Diablo 2: Resurrected target a specific damage type, which means it’s very frustrating to find monsters in an RPG that are immune to that damage type. Some of the new Diablo 2: Resurrected talismans now available on the PTR should fix this problem, provided you can get your hands on them.
The new Diablo 2: Resurrected Sundered Charms are six magical items that will (eventually) drop from rare, unique, and champion monsters in terrorized areas. Keep in mind that the Terror Zones will have mobs several tiers higher than the ones the game hosts, so you’ll be in for an uphill battle if you decide to search for these new items.
Six enchantments (and the type of immunity they break): Black Cleft (magic), Bone Shatter (physical), Cold Break (cold), Crack in the Sky (lightning), and Flame Rift (fire).
As Blizzard explains in the latest PTR patch notes, monsters with 100% or more resistance to the damage type are immune to that damage type. Items like the charms listed above that have the smash keyword reduce this resistance to 95%, allowing them to be hit again with the type of damage they resist (even if only a little).
However, it’s important to note that each of the charms also includes a debuff that makes your character more vulnerable to the type of damage the charm targets. Bone Break, for example, breaks the physical damage immunity of monsters, but also increases the physical damage taken by the user by 25%.
As mentioned above, these charms will eventually be dropped by monsters in terrorized areas, but for now, you can only use them by selecting one of the new PTR character models added on September 15. There are 13 of these models, and they all start at level 85 and carry one of six separation charms.
Here is the list of PTR character models as of September 15:
- Amazon “Frozen Arrow” – “Cold Crack”
- Amazon Fire Arrow – Fire Sunder
- Furious Barbarian – Physical Break
- Fire Claw Druid – Fire Blade
- Fire Druid – Sunder Fire
