Fallout 76 update returns to The Pitt

It’s a good day for longtime Fallout fans as the latest update to Fallout 76 has been released, adding The Pitt as a new location outside of the existing MMORPG Appalachia map. The update adds a new expedition system that allows players to visit new locations in a vertibird, with the destroyed version of Pittsburgh being the first of these.

Pitt first appeared in Fallout in 2009 as an add-on to Fallout 3. It was a densely populated industrial area that became home to a gang of looters. Now it looks like the Pitt Raiders want to expand their territory, and you’ll hear about it from a newcomer to Whitespring Sanctuary (the new name the Rescuers have given Whitespring Resort).

The Raiders are attacking members of the Syndicate in an attempt to take over Pitt and your first mission will be to go to a steel factory called the Foundry and help the Syndicate get it back.

However, to do this, you’ll need a way to make it happen. This includes charging up the vertibird, which you can do by completing the new Responders Reborn quest. After that, you’ll be able to visit the Whitespring Shrine every day for three new daily Shrine quests, each granting you 25% or 50% Ultracell charge. Complete all three and you’ll have enough juice to power up the vertibird and head towards Pitt.

You can find expeditions by opening the map and selecting the corresponding tab. Each mission will give you three random objectives, along with some additional objectives that you can complete on your way. Bethesda says that they all have checkpoints, so you don’t have to complete the mission in one go.

The patch notes include many additions and fixes, so check them out before jumping in and exploring a new area.
