The Nvidia RTX 4000 is officially expected by the end of the month, but the RTX 3000 doesn’t seem ready to retire. Reports indicate that the updated Ampere GPUs will arrive alongside the green team’s next best lineup of graphics cards, including the RTX 3060 with less VRAM.
According to the head of the GPU Zed__Wangthree RTX 3000 graphics cards will be relaunched with RTX 4000 starters. The first GPU the tipster mentions is the RTX 3060, which drops memory from the original model from 12GB to 8GB. The updated lineup also includes upgraded versions of the 3060 Ti and 3070 Ti, both with the GDDR6X upgrade.
The original leak doesn’t have an ETA, but Videocardz says board partners have confirmed they’ll be coming in late October. That means they will most likely arrive alongside the RTX 4000, as Nvidia is set to officially unveil its Lovelace lineup at the Project Beyond event and GTC 2022 keynote.

However, the RTX 3000 news is potentially tied to Nvidia’s alleged next-gen launch plans, as leaks suggest only the RTX 4090 will arrive this year. Whether that’s true remains to be seen, but the green team will need to maintain availability if it wants to compete with AMD’s RDNA 3 rivals and lower-spec Intel Arc alternatives in the gaming PC ring.
