it’s fair to say that FIFA 23 Professional Clubs it comes at a time when this mode is being overlooked in recent iterations of the series. The updates used to be minimal for a game mode with incredible potential, the soccer game favoring Ultimate Team and, to a lesser extent, Career mode.

While FIFA 23 will have some clever additions, like seasonal progression in Pro and Volta clubs, the recently announced changes won’t change things too much. Can EA look forward to the big EA Sports FC rebranding next year to reinvigorate professional clubs? Anyway, here are all the news announced for FIFA 23 Pro clubs.

General seasonal progression

Pro Club players now have the opportunity to earn points and rewards during a six-week Volta seasonal cycle. Participating in Pro Club matches unlocks Season Progression Points, which can then be spent in Street Football mode. The rewards can be returned to professional clubs and equipped on the field. It’s time to flaunt that blue afro again.

inserts

The key fundamental change for this year’s inserts is the reduction of the half-length to four minutes. EA decided to upgrade the excitement factor of participating in open matches by speeding up the process. The idea is to create more drama and moments of glory for players looking for a quick high.

Any extra time will now be a golden goal in direct entry mode, giving individual players a chance to grab the headlines and then quickly move on to the next game. However, there will be no penalty after extra time, so there is no pressure to keep your team going.

There will be eight Pro Club packs designed specifically for visitors, as well as more FIFA 23 stadiums.

Advantage

EA listened to community feedback on benefits. FIFA 23 will open up a lot more player growth levels, but more importantly, it will take less XP to level up. We are now considering maxing out at level 100 instead of level 25. This should make progression more consistent, providing a burst of excitement as you level up after a few matches.

Perks will also be easier to obtain. Slot machines will open faster and players will be able to experiment earlier in their career development cycle. Along with this, four new power-ups will be available for those looking to change up their play style.

Chase is a defensive advantage that is activated if you lose possession of the ball and run towards your target. Very often it’s impossible to catch super-fast pros these days, so an extra boost in this area may be needed to avoid those deadly counter-attacks. The Interceptor will also add to your defensive arsenal. This will increase your pro’s effectiveness in blocking and tackling the ball when close to your position.

Poacher is an offensive perk that activates when you are in an opponent’s area. Buffs are given to finishing moves, volleys, headers, and overall shooting stats. This is likely to be important for anyone who needs to score goals for their team, as professional clubs offer few opportunities to miss out as they move up the divisions.

The most interesting thing is that the new Light Touches perk affects your teammates and not your professional. This allows them to better catch and control your passes, improving their first touch in crucial situations like trying to clear space for a goal. It’s an interesting idea, and it looks like it could push the addition of an ingrained team chemistry system into the game if all goes well.

skill games

Tired of waiting for your friends to connect? Does your “be there in five minutes” really equal an hour? EA wants to give you something to do in the lobby while you wait.

Now you can earn XP by playing various skill games against your friends. Leaderboards are included so everyone can see how to brag between teams. Experience is awarded weekly and is also tied to the seasonal progression system, which is now tied to VOLTA.

Professional clubs still don’t get the love they deserve, but these additions are at least a step in the right direction. For more on soccer, check out our FIFA 23 Ranking Guide and Ultimate Team Chemistry Breakdown.
