Assassin’s Creed Mirage has officially become the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Details about a new Assassin’s Creed game were leaked in February when Bloomberg reported that Ubisoft was working on a small, stealth-focused Assassin’s Creed game alongside a larger Assassin’s Creed Infinity project (likely an online game of some sort). Another leak has reportedly revealed that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game will be called Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Now we know that this is true. Ubisoft confirmed the leak today with an image posted on Twitter by the publisher of “Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next Assassin’s Creed game.”

The reveal comes just over a week before the date for Ubisoft Forward, a livestream that is scheduled to properly reveal Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This will take place on Saturday, September 10th.

While there are still no exact details about the upcoming game, it’s almost certain that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be set in Baghdad and will star Basim Ibn Ishaq (aka Loki), who appeared in the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC.

Both reports also agree with the idea that Mirage will be a “return to basics” for Assassin’s Creed: a game focused on stealth rather than RPG-style character building and dialogue choices. The classic hooded assassin from Assassin’s Creed in the teaser reinforces this.

The next Assassin’s Creed game will not appear alone

As first reported by Try Hard and later confirmed by Bloomberg, three new Assassin’s Creeds games are in development, including two main games and a mobile version. The two main ones are the codenames Red and Hexe/Neo. Red supposedly takes place in Japan and is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec.

Early concept art depicts a samurai-like assassin, but players will likely be able to play as both male and female. While the Hexe/Neo project is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, it is set in the Holy Roman Empire and includes witch trials.

Both games are part of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Infinity, Ubisoft’s next platform for future games in the Assassin’s Creed series. However, they are not expected to be released until at least early 2024. The Bloomberg report did not mention any other details about the mobile game, but Try Hard had previously reported that it was set in China and was codenamed Jade. The games are expected to be announced this coming weekend at the Ubisoft Forward event.

The final DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is also in development. So, if everything is correct, Assassin’s Creed projects are in development:

  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage (Baghdad setting)
  • Assassin’s Creed Project Red (probably from Japan)
  • Assassin’s Creed Project Hexe (Central European setting)
  • Assassin’s Creed Project Jade (mobile game set in China)
  • Assassin’s Creed Project Nexus (VR)
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla latest expansion

About Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin's Creed DLC next Assassin's Creed game

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios, the game follows the saga of Eivor, a legendary Viking leader who left Norway in the 9th century AD due to wars and increasingly scarce resources.

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players will experience the relentless fighting style of Viking warriors with improved dual-wield combat and experience all new features such as raids, settlement building, and equipment progression and upgrade systems. Political alliances, combat decisions, and dialogue choices can influence the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and players must choose their path wisely to protect their clan’s future.
