AMD Ryzen 9 7950X benchmark could be a problem for Intel

The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X promises to be the most powerful processor on the planet when it finally launches later this month, promising a new level of performance across single-core and multi-core workloads. How powerful the flagship Zen 4 processor will be remains to be seen, but the new benchmarks would be far ahead of its Intel Core rivals.

A post on the Chiphell forums by nm68gus (via 9550pro) appears to show an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X engineering sample scoring just under 39,000 in Cinebench R23. Although other details of the test system, such as power consumption, are not well known, at least we know that water cooling was used to achieve this score.

Compared to the Intel Core i9 12900K, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X offers around 1.4 times the multi-core performance of Team Blue’s current flagship, according to data compiled by Videocardz. It could even easily outperform the best gaming CPU in the upcoming 13th Gen Core series, also known as Raptor Lake, which will put Blue Team in a tough spot.

As with all leaks, we should take these results with a grain of salt, but we can’t wait to get our hands on the AMD Ryzen 7000 processors and try them out for ourselves. If you’re considering upgrading your gaming PC to the new Team Red chips, be sure to find out what the “best quality” DDR5 RAM speed is for your new Zen 4 CPU.
