Dota 2 The International 2022 prize pool nears the $8 million Battle Pass sales mark as qualifications for the historic annual tournament begin in South America and Eastern Europe. This amount means that the MOBA Championship has already become the 10th largest prize for an esports tournament, with more than a month until the fundraiser. However, the initial growth rate here is slower than the previous two annual Dota 2 tournaments.

The International marks the culmination of the annual Dota 2 esports tournaments, with teams qualifying through the Dota Pro Circuit and Regional Qualifiers. At the time of this writing, the Dota 2 website lists The International 2022, also known as TI11, with a prize pool of $7,946,070, of which $1.6 million is from Valve’s base prize pool and the rest is game sales. 2. 25% of the money generated from Battle Pass sales goes into the pool, which means that Valve has already made over $25 million from Battle Pass sales this year.

Players can purchase the Battle Pass for $9.99 / £7.19 or pay $29.35 / £23.49 for a pre-tier 50 tier or $44.99 / £35.99 for a level 100 pass. Once purchased, the pass can be upgraded by playing Dota 2 and completing challenges. Additional levels can be purchased for real money. The Pass includes a range of unique cosmetics to unlock, including Arcana (high-quality skins with reworked skill effects, animations, and sounds) for Faceless Void and Razor; characters (hero reimaginings) for Phantom Assassin and Crystal Maiden; a prestige set for newcomer Primal Beast; and a host of taunts, cosmetic items, and more.

Considering the Battle Pass has been on sale for less than two days, raising that kind of money is certainly remarkable, but it’s actually less than The International 2021, which had raised $9,068,078 at the same time, and The International 2022. , which cost $8,420,161. The two tournaments were the largest prize pools in esports history when they closed out their Battle Pass purchases, at $40 million and $34.3 million, respectively.

Qualifying in South America and Eastern Europe began on September 3 and will continue until September 7. Qualifiers for North America and China will follow from September 8-12, followed by Qualifiers for Western Europe and Southeast Asia from September 13-17. The TI11 group stage will take place from October 15-18, the main event from October 20-23 and the final from October 29-30.
