Mafia on Steam is free briefly, developers 2K are giving away an original open world game to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the original game. The game will be available for free on Steam from September 1-5, so make sure to mark it on your calendar so you don’t forget or miss out.
There was a time when Mafia and GTA met on the gaming battlefield, and both crime games offered the player the opportunity to engage in organized crime in an open world. While GTA has been on the road online for two million years, Mafia works hard to release new single-player games every few years. The third part of the series received mediocre reviews, but the remake of the original was certainly not bad.
2K created a hashtag on Twitter so people can add their own stories about what the mob means to them. One player shares his deep connection to the series:
“I don’t think I could go down in history the way I did without the Mafia TV series,” they said. “Mafia II in particular holds some of the best memories of all time for me and my friends over the last decade. After playing this demo in 2010, I was hooked for life.
2K even chimed in, recalling one of the most annoying moments from the original game: “Honestly, how pissed off were you in Race Mission?” Me? Pretty tall, to be honest.
For those of us still playing the original, there’s a Titanic mod in the works that looks pretty good, and if playing OG Mafia sparks your interest in the series, you’ll be happy to hear that there are as many as three remakes or remasters. the. Developing. Mafia is not the only free game. Check out other great free PC games to add to your library without breaking the bank.
