Destiny 2 PvP Exploit Removes Skill-Based Matchmaking Completely

A Destiny 2 PvP exploit overshadowed what was a great start to Season 18. A ragtag squad at the center of MMO history and a new game mode, Ketchcrash, reminiscent of the old Battlefield Titan Assault, gives downed players a reason to fight back. However, those who prefer PvP game modes may struggle if they are on the lower end of the skill spectrum, as some players have found a workaround for recently implemented skill-based matchmaking in quick games.

Traditionally, if you were to jump into a quick PvP match, the game would find the highest quality game for you based on your connection. This means that you could theoretically have someone on your team who has never played an FPS before, or even looked at a computer screen until today. You and this new player can also team up with someone who is an elite assassin, a master of destruction, someone who know what they are doing.

Destiny 2 Season 18 changed things up a bit; Incorporate skill-based matchmaking into a fast-paced game to standardize the quality of the match not only technically, but also playable. The problem, however, is that some players have reportedly found a way to use this SBMM to put themselves and their other experienced friends in a lobby with newer, less capable opponents.

Destiny 2 has always been a hotbed for people to find ways to avoid the intended path, being able to do a full raid on your own sounds great and takes a lot of work. The problem arises when this mentality extends to PvP; these exploits, workarounds, or whatever you want to call them, directly affect the other player’s experience, and that sucks.

The Reddit user added his grain of sand to the situation: “I am in favor of exploits when they do not hurt anyone. It’s just bad. I agree, NihilisticCoffee. I agree.

We hope they find a way to create more organic PvP matches, the experience for new players will suffer greatly if this high level stomping continues. Be sure to check out this guide for more on Destiny 2 Season 18, and if you’re just starting out on your Destiny journey, this class and subclass guide should give you a good head start, maybe skip it. Go PvP for now. .
