First impressions of Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure are certainly the same as those of Zelda and Stardew Valley, but the indie game is looking to carve out a niche for itself in the relaxing island-living genre of games alongside Animal Crossing. : New Horizons with dynamic combat systems, free-form island development, and a mysterious story at its core. Waking up on the strange island of Iconay, you will uncover its many mysteries and befriend the wildlife, using their unique abilities to help you continue your exploration.

Ikonei Island launched on Steam Early Access on August 18, and PCGamesN took a look at the game and its planned updates while we were at Gamescom. The multiplayer mode planned for fans of the genre is perhaps the most exciting: the early access version of Ikonei Island currently only supports single-player adventures, but once multiplayer launches, up to four players will be able to work on the island. .

As with all the best farming games, Ikonei Island lets you build your farm from scratch, earning a variety of tools and equipment to help improve your farming efficiency as you go. As you gather more resources, you’ll be able to build workshops, dwellings, decorations, and more to turn your simple home base into a thriving town. In addition, you will be able to craft different weapons to fight against dangerous monsters in the wild in Zelda-style combat sequences.

However, not all the creatures you encounter on your travels will be hostile, many of them can befriend and care for each other, and as you strengthen your bonds with some of the weird and wonderful wildlife found on the island, you will be able to use their skills to navigate in previously inaccessible areas. The game’s developer, Snowcastle Games, says its roadmap includes improved creature care that will give you bonuses for your furry friends when you give them the right love and attention.

As you explore Iconey Island, you will discover gangs of pirates who have their own greedy agendas on the island. You must infiltrate their camps and try to secure the future of the island. However, Snowcastle Games claims that they focus on crafting and players don’t have to fight if they don’t want to. As you roam the island, there’s already something to reveal, but more will be revealed during the Early Access period.

Ikonei Island is available on Steam: Snowcastle Games notes that they plan to increase the price after Early Access ends to reward players with a lower price “for helping improve the game.” If you like a slightly more sinister management sim, maybe Bloody Hell Vampire Hotel could be for you. Otherwise, our selection of the best simulation games on PC should have plenty of other ways to immerse yourself in various virtual activities.
