In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, you play as Wolf, a shinobi bent on revenge against a clan of samurai who have gone into hiding with your master. Armed with a prosthetic arm and a sharp sword, Wolf fights his way through the ranks of his enemies to carry out his mission. Exceptionally cool, I’m sure you’ll agree, but he feels like a soul. cooler. The Sekiro mod now ups the ante by letting you play as Raiden from Metal Gear Solid Rising because we all know cyber ninjas beat shinobi right?

The extensive Sekiro mod was created by NexusMods user tomanton22 and aims to completely overhaul the Wolf and Genichiro models, turning them into Raiden and Jetstream Sam respectively. The level of detail in the models alone guarantees a blast. Check out this mod if you’re even interested in Sekiro or Metal Gear, and while Feudal Japan isn’t exactly a traditional setting for full-bodied cyber-ninjas, it’s a little off the mark.

Starting your journey in Sekiro with the MGS mod installed, you play Prologue Raiden with a new face and both hands. After meeting Genichiro (or, in this case, Jetstream Sam) and then cutting off your arm, you wake up as an advanced Raiden. Black as brass and angry as hell. It’s a really nice touch and moves the story forward like a vanilla game; waking up not knowing his body or the new powers he might have.

The customization options don’t end there: the mod adds functionality so you can choose whether or not to wear your visor, and other more themed mariachi costumes are also included.

Along with the new character models, Sekiro Metal Gear Rising also tweaks the musical score, adding MGR’s heavy guitar riffs to the fight scenes; again, this shouldn’t fit, but it does somehow fit. . The final piece of the puzzle was replacing Sekiro’s deathblow icons with MGR’s Zandatsu symbols, something that didn’t have to be done at all, but I’m glad he did it.
