After a surprise announcement, the Samsung 990 Pro SSD has finally been unveiled and, unsurprisingly, it’s very Quick. This pocket-sized NVMe M.2 SSD packs best-in-class features that set it apart from the competition.

Released in October, the Samsung 990 Pro could be the best gaming SSD when it hits the market. The company also claims to have optimized the player for “graphically demanding games,” but it should also be ideal for “3D rendering, 4K video editing, and data analysis.”

With a 7450MB/s sequential read and 6900MB/s write speed, it outperforms any other consumer SSD currently available. Samsung claims that these specs allow the 990 Pro to load Forspoken’s game world in “around a second,” assuming it will work seamlessly with the DirectStorage API.

You’ll be able to get the Samsung 990 Pro starting in October, with the 1TB model priced at $179 compared to the 2TB version priced at $309. 4TB variant later this year.
