Waiting in line is never fun, but pre-ordering your Steam deck may skip a few steps. Valve says it’s making more gaming laptop PCs than ever before, and instead of waiting until December to get your hands on the system, you may be able to get your hands on it as soon as next month.
Valve is beating the same drum all month long, letting you know that your Steam cover release date may be sooner than you thought and more orders will be shipping sooner than expected. Well, again we recommend that you check your position in the queue, because the number of orders jumped from the fourth quarter (October to December) to the third quarter (July to September). In fact, all three writers here at PCGamesN are excited to have their Steam deck soon, including yours.

To check where your pre-order is, simply log in to your Steam account and visit the official Steam Deck page. You will see an output window below the template you ordered in advance. Once the long-awaited email arrives, you have about 72 hours to make a purchase before the link apparently expires. Don’t worry if you miss it, though, because nobody obsessively updates their inbox, right? Correct? Valve says that after cancellation “there is a grace period of a few days” in which you can contact Steam Support and they will accept the original offer.
Valve also shares which is not without interest, despite the recourse to production. “Steam Deck daily pre-orders continue to grow and are at their highest level since our launch earlier this year.” Valve has already guaranteed that you’ll get their Steam deck this year if you pre-order before August, and that sounds pretty promising for those who pre-order later.
