Nvidia RTX 4080 specs get a potential boost due to lower power consumption

The specifications of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 have yet to be officially announced by the green team, but that hasn’t stopped rumors from continuing to release new graphics card stats. Now recent reports indicate that the higher-end RTX 4000 GPU could have potential performance improvements and draw less power from its power supply.

Latest RTX 4080 Specification Update from Hardware Source kopite7kimi suggests that Nvidia is making one of the best graphics cards even more powerful by improving memory speed, bandwidth, and power efficiency.

The 16GB of GDDR6X VRAM said to come with the RTX 4080 will now run at 23GB/s, giving the RTX 4000 card a whopping 736GB/s of potential bandwidth. Meanwhile, the pixel pusher’s TBP may be as low as 340 W, down from the previously estimated 420 W.

While it’s generally believed that each generation of graphics cards will offer performance gains, we’re pleased to learn that Nvidia appears to be taking steps to make its next-generation GPUs more power efficient. However, nothing can be certain until we get an official word or two from the company, so some degree of skepticism is warranted here (as with all rumours).

Very soon we will see the official announcement of the RTX 4090 as the new flagship graphics card from GeForce. Whether that’s enough to stave off AMD’s RDNA 3 offerings remains to be seen, as the two companies compete for the coveted PCIe slot in your PC.
