Starting today (August 23), registration is open for the cosplay contest, one of the most anticipated attractions of the largest pop culture festival on the planet, taking place December 1-4 at the Sao Paulo Expo. Considered one of the pillars of the event, expectations from the cosplay community this year are higher than in previous years. The main reason is the return of the event as a whole to the face-to-face model. The competition will be individual and will focus on pop culture character themes from comics, movies, games, TV shows, movies, and music, among others. To participate, you must access the website and fill out the form with the requested data, as well as send photos and video previews of the performance.

Registration will be open until September 12, and participants should use all the resources at their disposal to improve their custom. The first qualifying round takes place online. The public will be able to vote for the cosplay preferred by the site from 12:00 pm on September 16th until 12:00 pm on September 28th.
On October 3, the finalists will be announced, who will receive certificates for each day of the festival and will take part in the grand final, which will take place on December 4. On this day, after the traditional parade, five best cosplayers will be selected in five different categories. The first one is “CCXP Cosplay Master”, is considered the main winner of the event and is awarded to the participant who scored the highest number of points according to all established criteria. The prizes for him will be a pair of Full Experience tickets to the CCXP 2023 event (worth 24,000 rupees) and a 0 km car. As usual, the winner in this category will retain the title until next year and thus be excluded from the 2023 draw.
The remaining four categories, which will be awarded from second to fifth place, respectively: “Best Costume”, “Best Performance”, “Best Ingenuity” as well as “Best Favorite”. In all of them, the winner will be determined based on the scores given by the judges, and each will receive four collectible Iron Studios figures and a pair of Epic Experience tickets to the CCXP 2023 event as a prize.

They liven up the event, smile and take a lot of pictures with the public and the media. Our competition is a way to draw attention to these artists who have spent the whole year thinking about how to excel in customs and performances. Proof that CCXP attendees love cosplayers is that in the 2019 SP Expo visitor satisfaction survey, the cosplay universe was featured as the space that fans liked the most with 30% of the votes.
It is worth noting that the daily competitions held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are not part of the cosplay competition. Any cosplayer attending the event can take part if they register in the Cosplay Universe, an area reserved exclusively for these artists. The space features a walk-in closet equipped with lockers (limited space), mirrors and makeup benches, dressing rooms, and a cosplay assistant for last-minute changes.
