Battlefield 2042 specialists will see some big changes in the third season of the first-person shooter. EA/DICE announced that after the upcoming season, Specialists will be organized according to the more familiar class system from Battlefield, separating traits and equipment within each class.
“There have been mixed reactions to the arrival of the specialists in Battlefield 2042,” the studio said in a statement published on August 22. – We hear you. So in Season 3, we’re moving Specialists into the classic and familiar Battlefield class system.”
This means that all existing specialists will share common traits within a class, and DICE says that existing disposable devices and objects will be “separated between classes based on their function.”
DICE says it will remain a part of Battlefield 2042, but adds that players have been asking for more from the legacy class system, and the Season 3 changes are a step in that direction.

Season 3 will also continue the work started this season with visual updates to what Specialists look and sound like. They’ll look more battle-worn and battle-hardened, and the jokes reflect the harsh realities of the world in the 2042 version of the game.
The update also highlights some of the recently announced changes for Season 2, which launches next month. These include the introduction of “vault weapons” in Portal that you can unlock by completing missions. The first two are the M16A3 Assault Rifle and the M60E4 Light Machine Gun from Battlefield 3.
The update also indicates that more map updates are expected, just like the Kaleidoscope update. In September, Renewal will receive an update and Orbital in October.
