The summer split of the League of Legends American Championship (LCS) 2022 regular season has come to an end.. In these eight weeks of exciting testing, only eight teams (Evil Geniuses, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid Honda, Counter Logic Gaming, Cloud9, FlyQuest, TSM and Golden Guardians.) managed to grab a place in the playoffs and thus get a chance to win the LCS Trophy and get a slot at the 2022 World Cup.
The playoffs will start tomorrow, Saturday, August 10 at 22:00 Italian time, the opening match will be Team Liquid Honda vs FlyQuest, the loser will play the Golden Guardians in the lower bracket in an inside or outside match.
In the meantime, here’s a recap of the LCS Playoffs: The eight qualifying teams will face off in a four-week tournament that culminates in the LCS Championship Finals at the United Center in Chicago on September 10th and 11th. The top three teams will automatically qualify for the League of Legends World Championship, and their seeding will determine the Lower Bracket Final and the Grand LCS Championship Final.
All matches will be played in a bo5 format with a double elimination for the top six players and a single elimination for the seventh and eighth place players. The top two heads (EG and 100Thieves) in the series will receive a bye in the first round of the upper bracket semi-finals. For matchmaking purposes, the first-placed team may choose to play against one of the potential winners of previous top-level matches. While two teams (TSM and Golden Guardians) will start from the loser bracket.
