Gotham Knights is an upcoming RPG from WB Games, due out in October. With the spookiest months just around the corner, it’s time for more gameplay footage that isn’t Batman, but some kind of Batman beating them. Well we did. We’ve got in-game footage of the Red Hood doing his thing on the streets of Gotham, and most people…don’t like it.
Little Red Riding Hood game video, posted here, shows some of the skills available if you decide to play as an antihero. Grapplers and stomped baddies are standard fare, with some interesting shots thrown in for good measure. The video, however, makes some people question WB Games’ aesthetic decisions when it comes to the city:
“I can’t get over how empty and abandoned the city looks. So there are only bad guys and criminals in this world? Where are the pedestrians? Cars, traffic, animals, etc. I’ll get tired of playing this in an hour. The environment needs to be more immersive.”
Another user criticized how the character it feels while moving and attacking his enemies: “God, he looks so weird, he runs like he has a pole up his ass. The animations don’t blend into each other either, so there are some weird little pauses. The attacks also seem to have little to no effect, God, it’s a mess.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I think. Whether justified or not, videos have a certain amount of fool toward him, an extremely heavy grown man clad in full armor, effortlessly clinging from ledge to ledge, breaking his jumps with… magic(?) to crush the criminal face down.
However, not everything was so bad. One Twitter user begrudgingly praised what he saw: “I can’t believe I’m about to say this. Looks great.”
The current release date for Gotham Knights is October 22, 2022. Gotham Knights may be running out of time, but whatever happens, I’m sure I’ll have a blast exploring the WB’s unique take on Gotham. saving people left and right on my motorcycle is what Bruce would want. Most likely.
