Creative Assembly seems to be as excited about the Total War: Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires factions as we are, as we managed to get a few members of the dev team to talk about their favorite Immortal Empires starting positions on the unified map.
Combining ten years of Total War development, Immortal Empires is the ultimate Warhammer fantasy strategy game. Whether you’re leading classic factions like Bretonnia or the Empire, or newcomers like Kislev and Cathay, the Immortal Empires map will provide you with the perfect sandbox to indulge in any fantasy you choose. Just try not to get lost while traveling these sea routes.
Alberic of Bordelot of Bretonnia
William Wright (lead designer)
Imagine: after decades of diligently managing his dukedom, he finally had some free time and went to sunny Lustria to rest. You step off the ship dreaming of a pina colada sip from the Grail itself, only to discover that the station has been invaded by dinosaurs with solar-powered laser guns.
Alberic’s campaign not only builds on the potential absurdity of the Warhammer world, but is actually Monty Python and the Holy Grail meeting Jurassic Park, and also highlights the emergent narrative that is at the heart of the Immortal Empires experience. . Whatever happens, it is almost certain that you will have to face a new crisis: a duke’s work is never done!
Wood Elf Drycha
Ben Leach (designer)
Do you like trees? and i mean Indeed what are trees like? I like trees, so I play the day in Dritch’s foliage. In good Thyme of Athel Loren, everything was ruled by tree spirits, but since the rise of the elves things have not been so rosy. Away from Athel Loren, Dricha plans a birch rescue mission to free his master, Ancient Tree Crawler Koeddil, from his prison in Wildwood.
There’s never a dull moment when it comes to protecting the clearing, which means keeping pesky rats from trying to destroy all the wooden stuff. Drycha does not worry, for soon it will be time to turn to the big world. More clearings have been added around the map in IE, which means more chances to develop a good landing spot on the map. However, there is not much mulch for Drychy. My assessment of her campaign: magnificent flowering.
Lohir Evilheart Dark Elf
Anuji Malhotra (designer)
Yo-ho, pirate life for me, we extort and rob, rob and rob. Get away from the Vampire Coast, it’s time to unfurl my black flag and put on my sea dragon cape, a true pirate on deck! I recently had an explosive foray with Lohir Hateheart in Immortal Empires.
The Lord of the Kraken loves good prey and wisely chooses his starting position on the east coast of faraway Great Cathay. Your Black Arks are invaluable in Immortal Empires, as the wide rivers and network of canals that run through the heart of Cathay allow Lokhir to reach inland almost to the Great Maw while reaping the rewards of war. amphibian
So our coffers float on the water, overloaded with the riches of the East, and we rush out into the open, maritime sea, the world is truly Lohira’s oyster. I can’t wait to sail the bloody seas, no, to sail the bloody world of Warhammer in a long and successful campaign. Pirate life for me!
Death Lord Snikch of the Skaven
James Martin (lead designer)
For me, the Eshin campaign is basically A Plague Tale: Cathay. Starting from the Xing Po area, you are surrounded by people who will not be too happy to see an infestation of rats. It is from here that my great Nether Empire will expand and consume the east before it begins to move west through the Mountains of Sorrow.
I always have Biker Mice From Mars toys in the attic, so watching the rats ride bikes and fight bad guys is awesome, which is obviously why I love playing Skaven now. While Snikch isn’t as much of a leader as Throttle or as strong as Modo, to me he’s always been as tough as Vinnie, eager to take on the biggest enemies and destroy them. I already have an army ready for the final game; The attack will be led by real Biker Mice in Doomwheels and Doomflayers, followed by my hidden army with Snikch, some Assassins, Death Runners and Ditch Runners. Many diet plans, let’s start, yes, yes!
dwarf grombrindal
William Hakestad (creator)
Grombrindal is a relatively simple campaign without a huge mechanical structure to keep me going, or a strict narrative to follow. Just me, the evil dwarf, and more importantly, the starting unit of the Iron Snakes. While the idea of facing Malekith of the Dark Elves and settling one of the oldest grudges in the book is tempting, my heart demands one thing above all else: burning skaven.
When a series of rat-infested mountains stand between me and Malekith, I embark on a ferocious campaign to destroy every last sanctuary between that place and Naggarond. The placement of settlements in Warhammer III creates a grueling grind for most dwarven units, they are well equipped to slowly make their way through them, but it is the Irondrake that wins the most.
My ruthless rage against the Skaven ends up triggering something with Malekith. Crushing our common enemy with such force, and with Valkia coming from the north, we have enough mutual respect to put aside the oldest grudge, if only for a single battle.
Archaon the Chosen, Warriors of Chaos
Mitchell Histie (lead designer)
How could he not choose the same Everchosen? Warhammer’s ultimate fantasy villain has been on fire since Warhammer I and II, and now he’s poised to become the true ruler of Chaos. Warriors of Chaos’ new update sees him assemble a truly absurd assortment of nightmarish grubblis and colorful deadly adepts to become the true doomsday threat he was always meant to be.
But it is the limits and the opportunities that make a good campaign. Because you have to match your commanders with their units, and you can only get the most elite units by promoting your veterans, each army you create develops its own theme and story. It truly feels like we’ve never been able to replicate the fun of building and drawing your own Chaos army on the tabletop, something unique to you.
Nakai Wanderer, Lizardmen
Al Bickham (Senior Development Communications Manager)
If this is your first time breaking the Immortal Empires seal, may I recommend the Kroxigor Chungusaur Nakai the Wanderer as your travel companion? Particularly due to the fact that this megamap can be made with an excessive amount of wandering if desired.
Nakai features a light and hyper mobile playstyle. When you capture a colony, you immediately hand it over to your AI-controlled permanent vassals, who earn you coins each turn for each colony you give them, then run off to the next conquest. Nakai has his own Horde recruitment infrastructure that grows along the way, so in short, he’s the freest lord in the game.
His new starting position at the southeasternmost point of the map means that Nakai has had his back to the wall since day one, with the entire map in front of him for study. The nomadic nature of Nakai also means that you can enjoy a variety of combat from almost any race in any game environment.
Balthazar Gelt of the Empire
Nicholas Graber (senior designer)
What’s better than the smell of napalm in the morning? If that’s your style, the Masked Man (not you, Lockheer) is still one of the best options despite only being introduced in 2016.
Initially, you’ll have to deal with the greenskin invasion, but steel, faith, and gunpowder will get you there, and then you’ll have to deal with all the other threats. This race quickly becomes a game of diplomatic balance and protecting the Empire against internal and external threats.
Overall, my top priority is to use our quick deals feature to ensure that as many factions of the Empire as possible come together where the real danger lies. This campaign really evokes the feeling of a huge human empire, surrounded on all sides, struggling to survive in this cruel fantasy world.
Total War: Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires release date is August 24 as a free update with the Champions of Chaos expansion, the first official post-launch DLC for Warhammer 3. Initially, Immortal Empires will launch as a free beta. and it will be improved extraordinary time. I hope the developers have given you some inspiration on who you want to pick when launching the big campaign, but if not, you’re spoiled for choice!
