League of Legends RP is more expensive, especially in the UK

League of Legends RP (Riot Points, for the uninitiated) is the blood of MOBAs, at least commercially. Players can purchase them to purchase cosmetics, battle passes, and even additional pages to store runes in-game.

Every year their prices are reviewed by region and adjusted for inflation and other things that no one really understands. This year is big; prices are rising dramatically across the board, and the “Bonus RP” you get when you buy big packs is gone.

The changes come into force today, August 19, when the average price increase in the UK will be 10.9%. The cost breakdown looks like this:

Old Price (British Pounds) old common currency New price (sterling new common currency
5.00 730 4.49 575
10.00 1520 10.99 1450
3:00 pm. 2330 20.99 2850
20.00 3080 34.99 5000
35.00 5480 49.99 7250
50.00 7920 99.99 15000

The cost of living is rising everywhere, even our favorite MOBA won’t come out unscathed, but it’s important to remember that League of Legends is ultimately free to play. Prime Gaming loot pods now seem more valuable than ever, although they were also recently nerfed. Combine that with the personal shop that pops up from time to time and we can still take advantage of the trendy skin pool, maybe not as often as before.

Also, the phrase “stylish skin pool” sounds gross, and I promise I’ll never mention it again.

We’ve got a quick guide on how to find out how much you’ve spent on League of Legends, here’s what you can check out when prices go up. As always, it’s always good to keep up with the Rift, and that’s why we have the League of Legends 12.16 patch notes.
