Hotta Studios’ new fantasy RPG, Tower of Fantasy, has caused a stir among streamers, judging by the number of views of Tower of Fantasy on Twitch over the past seven days. The Genshin Impact-style MMO game launched on August 10 and has already racked up over 8 million total viewing hours, beating Fortnite by 20,000 views as of August 15. And that’s despite nearly a quarter of Fortnite’s total broadcast time. Tower of Fantasy streamed 199,563 hours over five days, while Fortnite streamed nearly 800,000 hours.
Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Warzone had 7,863,000 viewing hours out of 504,000 streaming hours, while Genshin Impact has a relatively low number of 2,244,000 hours despite HoYoverse streaming its 3.0 livestream during that time. .
In short, people watch Tower of Fantasy a lot more, even if peak viewership is closer than you think. Fantasy Tower drew 276,000 viewers and Genshin Impact over 530,000.
For context, Grand Theft Auto V still has over 30 million hours of viewing.
It’s not entirely clear if this is really indicative of Tower of Fantasy’s popularity. The practical explanation, especially given the relatively low viewership, is that Hotta’s Twitch Drops campaign worked. The allure of free materials in a gacha-style game is really powerful.
Tower of Fantasy is receiving mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, though the overall response on the game’s Reddit page is much more positive, if you can ignore the bullshit.
Meanwhile, Genshin Impact will receive a new major update on August 24 with the Genshin Impact 3.0 patch, which will bring new posters and more.
