FFXIV Island Sanctuary is basically Animal Crossing on PC

Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has teased the new FFXIV Island Sanctuary mode for the critically acclaimed MMORPG, confirming that it’s basically Animal Crossing on PC. The farm game mode was shown off as part of the developer’s latest live stream; for everything else about the event, check out our full Live Letter 72 breakdown.

Final Fantasy XIV’s Sanctuary Island will be released on August 23. with patch 6.2, giving each player their own island to explore and build on. You will need to complete the events of patch 6.0, this is the basic Endwalker story, to access the island by first reaching one of its beaches.

The size of the islands is really special, and the amount of content they contain seems to match. Yoshi-P says that training for this mode alone will likely take players around two and a half hours, giving them an idea of what’s on offer. Players can collect resources, turn them into tools and materials, and use them to build structures and organize their facilities.

There are no battles on the island, only the mount speed has been increased and the sprint and return times have been reduced, when it should be easier to move. Everything on the island is placed in a special inventory that is exclusive to the mode; this means you can store it separately and not clutter your usual inventory with stuff. Gathering at Island Sanctuary is unrelated to your characters’ normal gathering and crafting activities, so anyone can participate.

As you progress, you’ll be able to catch wild animals running around the island and bring them back to your base, where they can be bred for additional resources. Beetles can also be caught with nets, as well as providing your own gear. You can build multiple starter buildings at once, but the endings will take a predetermined amount of time, similar to Animal Crossing. Building designs become more advanced over time, though Yoshida assures players that they can keep the look simpler if they wish.

Your island also has its own rank and experience, so it will level up and award various island certificates that can be used for glamor and unique mounts that can be used anywhere in the game (none of which are not gender specific). ). You will be working alongside an NPC who is an expert in farming and can teach you the basics of farming. Crops will need to be watered regularly or they will stop growing, but rain will also be taken into account so you don’t have to do all the work yourself.

Once you’ve made enough progress, you can also assign NPCs to do your work for you. You’ll also be able to unleash up to 40 of your favorite minions to roam the island, which should make the island hideout even more of a home away from home. It seems like a place where players can get completely lost – at least you can queue for tasks while you’re there, if you can remember you’re still playing an MMO!
