Final Fantasy XIV Update 6.2 will be released on August 23.. Most of the new patch was already shown on Live Letter 71, but in this latest live stream, Game Director Naoki Yoshida and Community Producer Toshio Murouchi live stream some of the new 6.2 content. and 6.25 and explore some of its most anticipated content. even more in depth. Fortunately, we are here to reveal all the key information here.

First, the new main story quests and trials that seem to take place in the Thirteenth Shard (also known as the Void) are considered. This time, the test also ties into the main story, though Yoshi-P insists that its exact nature will be kept secret until the day of the solution to keep it a secret. However, we did see a creature that is almost certainly Scarmiglione from Final Fantasy IV, which is in line with previous expectations.

Yoshida also talks about the next raid level for Pandemonium: Abyssos Raid. As for the first time in the history of Final Fantasy XIV, the wild level comes out a week later than usual, Yoshida asks players for feedback on how it works. He hopes this will give players who want to be world first a chance to really enjoy the raid story, instead of feeling pressured to rush through content at launch.

Yoshida also says that he finds the wild difficulty of this patch quite challenging and that “even though you come with 900 volumes, I feel like it’s the best with a lot of new mechanics.” While trying to clear the first two floors of Wild Raid during a two-hour trial period, Yoshida said that he had trouble remembering all the mechanics even after they were explained to him.

Diving into the game itself, Yoshida briefly showed a battle with a “proto-anthrax”, saying that “originally, an anthrax might be such a creature, but since it was too scary, it’s found in Pandemonium.” After a bit about the combat mechanics (and a rebuttal to players asking to summon Protocarbuncles themselves because “you can’t control them”), Yoshida showed off some of the raid armor sets.

Raid sets feature some very colorful designs, including highly ornate armor that blends classic Final Fantasy with more traditional high fantasy elements, and even gear with fiery images that glow orange, red, and purple. . Importantly, the exchange rate for Abyssos Mythos Tomes will be lower in the new raid level: only four copies of each are needed for head, arm, and leg gear (instead of the usual six).

Hildibrand’s new quests are also covered, More Adventures of Hildibrand in patch 6.25. Yoshida jokes thinking about the new missions, he said, “What did we do with those scenes?” -implying that we’ll probably see more of his trademark style rather than awkwardness. Don’t forget that we’ll also see Endwalker relic weapons included in these quests, so you’ll need to hire Godbert to craft your most powerful weapon this time around.

Adventurer panels and their associated portraits will exit beta with the release of 6.2. Previously, all portraits created during the beta phase were lost, but Yoshida confirms that if you link a portrait to your adventurer tag or team, it will carry over to full functionality. Glam Chest capacity has also been doubled to 800 slots. “Just because the capacity doubled, don’t put everything in there, okay?” Yoshida laughs, “I know you’ll be asking for more!”

In preparation for the planned FFXIV 7.0 graphical update, several features are being implemented step by step to ease the deployment and debugging process. Patch 6.2 introduces optimized graphics rendering and dynamic resolution. Gamers can enable this option, which will automatically lower the displayed resolution when the GPU is under heavy load to ensure a consistent frame rate.

One of the big balance changes discussed earlier was the switch to critical and direct hits, and Yoshida reveals how that will work. Previously, classes that used abilities that guaranteed critical or direct hits didn’t benefit as much from team or party buffs that increased their spawn rate. As of patch 6.2, actions that grant critical or direct hits will also deal more damage based on their respective stats when they are upgraded to be more useful.

The second PvP series should start with a new patch and a new set of rewards. Rewards from the previous series can be received before the end of the second series. It’s important to note that Yoshida says that starting in Season 3, higher-ranked players can be demoted when they lose matches. Players who are at the higher levels of Diamond and Crystal can be demoted to the previous rank if they lose while at the lower level of the rank. However, your seasonal rewards will still count as your highest rank, even if you are later demoted.

We should take a look at some cool mounts on offer in the new expansion, including the Space Jellyfish, which will be a reward for the new Omicron Tribal Quests that will be added in patch 6.25. Also shown is a reward for a multi-dungeon mount introduced in patch 6.25, which looks like a cute giant rodent with a very bloated orb on its tail that also appears as a boss fight in one of the dungeons.

The FFXIV 6.2 patch is a space jelly mount, a giant swimming jellyfish that the player sits on. It is dark blue in color and appears to be filled with stars.

Variant and Criterion Dungeons, Final Fantasy XIV’s non-linear, evolutionary adventures that can be played by 1 to 4 players, have also been given their own deep dive. Yoshida introduces the Sil’din Dungeon and the other previously announced Sil’din Dungeon; that’s right, in patch 6.25 for FFXIV, players will team up to fight “ASS (Savage)”.

Yoshida joins fan-favorite Nanamo on his journey through the dungeons and demonstrates how players can choose from several different progression paths, displaying a checklist that includes up to 12 possible outcomes that can be achieved in various dungeons. Depending on the route taken, players will face different boss battles and be given different parts of the story which can then be pieced together to reveal the true nature of things. When playing in groups, players can vote on which path to take each turn, and NPCs can even suggest routes themselves.

In these dungeon variants, players will have access to a choice of five action options: Heal Option, Ultimatum Option, Escalation Option, Spirit Dart Option, and Fortress Option. They are designed to allow players to access different activities in all three combat roles, even if they are lining up in a smaller group or a group that doesn’t follow the traditional group role format.

FFXIV Patch 6.2 – Yoshida and Murouchi consider three possible paths through the Stone Dungeon, each marked with a large blue circle on the ground.

Criteria Dungeon, which is a more difficult Variant, is “much stronger” than its Variant Dungeon counterparts. Yoshida notes that normal criteria dungeon bosses “are like the ferocious enemies on floors 1.5, 3, and 4.” Wild mode for Criteria Dungeon requires a pre-built party of four and removes ground attack gauges for enemies, including normal mobs. Yoshida says that this extreme difficulty level is “definitely for players who are going to get to the next level of wild raiding as soon as possible so they can challenge their good team.” However, he assures players that it is “really, really fun.”

Much of the centerpiece of the live card is spent exploring the new Island Sanctuary feature, which appears to be FFXIV’s spin on Animal Crossing. In fact, this segment is so in-depth that we’ve given it a separate article with explanations, so be sure to click that link for all the juicy details.
