Someone Finally Built Our Dream Nintendo Wii Gaming PC

Now there’s a proper Nintendo Wii gaming PC, and a compact, stealthy rig can run Minecraft in 4K resolution. A custom build can even handle competitive favorites like Fortnite and Rocket League thanks to AMD Ryzen 5 APUs and some clever console tweaking.

Created by AlexTriesTech, the Nintendo Wii Gaming PC, or “WiiC,” is a platform disguised as a low-spec family console released in 2006. A full-featured Windows 11 system that will run part of your Steam library.

The WiiC’s interior originally belonged to a Ryzen APU mini PC, but AlexTriesTech cut the system’s motherboard to fit inside the Nintendo Wii’s narrow casing. Naturally, the build lacks extra features like Gamecube controller ports and the stock player to fit it all together, and there are mods for sale that improve airflow, prevent CPU throttling, and ultimately increase the frame rate.

The project is the result of months of work, but the end product looks like a fully functional Nintendo Wii. It even has RGB lighting to help replicate the blue glow of the original console’s disc slot.

Sure, the idea of a hidden Wii installation sounds like a novelty, but tests show it’s more than a joke. The micromachine is capable of 100+ fps on Fornite, can run Rainbow Six: Siege at 1080p 60fps, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider is practically playable on a compact PC. As mentioned above, it can handle Minecraft at 4K resolution, so you can hook it up to a better gaming monitor and enjoy the iconic blocky game at a higher resolution.

We previously decided that Queen’s Golden Wii should become the ultimate gaming PC, but we’re ready to settle for AlexTriesTech’s creation. At first glance, you will probably think that it is the same as you used to play bowling and tennis with your grandmother, and that is what makes it so special.
