A new batch of Escape from Tarkov screenshots posted on the official Discord offers a new look at Streets of Tarkov, the highly anticipated city map planned for an FPS survival game. First shown at PC Gaming Show 2020, Tarkov Streets has been in development for over two years and is by far the most densely populated and challenging area of Tarkov to date, hands down.
Community manager Battlestate Games posted nearly two dozen new screenshots from Streets of Tarkov on the official Discord today. None of the shots show any action, but instead provide a good view, usually from the street, of the different environments and architectural styles that can be found on the streets.
The city has clearly been the site of a major disaster: it has been the epicenter of the destruction that can be seen in the surrounding area for many years, and the destruction is most intense in urban settings. While some streets appear to be empty, others have been destroyed, with one shot showing the remains of a tram that fell into a crater next to an open underground sewer.
The plans also include many interior spaces, including what appears to be a large subway room, an apartment complex, and industrial spaces. Nature restores them little by little: weeds and grass break down the tiles and cement, and moss grows on door frames and walls.
He also shared four videos today. One shows the in-game version of the Steyr AUG bullpup assault rifle, the second shows the same for the Glock 18C pistol, the third shows the Heckler & Koch MP7A1 PDW, and the fourth shows the new amplification system being added to the Tarkov one. Gear Repair System – Looks like it will add a temporary buff to your weapons and gear when you repair them.
Exactly when Streets of Tarkov will appear in the game is not yet known, but the developers have suggested that it will be this year, possibly before the fall. Battlestate Games also plans to start testing its standalone first-person shooter Tarkov Arena before the end of this year.
