Gamescom 2022 will feature new details on Sega’s Sonic Frontiers and will likely reveal more about Modern Warfare 2 and Bethesda’s upcoming space RPG Starfield. This is Gamescom’s first live stream since 2019, but you can still watch the opening night stream hosted by Geoff Keighley from the comfort of his computer. Here’s how to watch Gamescom 2022.
Gamescom 2022 kicks off on August 23, and if you’re watching from the UK it will kick off at 7pm, viewers on the US East Coast will be able to tune in at 2pm.
The biggest news confirmed so far is the reveal of more details and hopefully more Sonic Frontiers gameplay footage, but host Geoff Keighley also confirmed that there will be “30+ games when Gamescom opens, so maybe 2022 has a few more games in. The biggest releases of 2023 will also be announced.
Call of Duty: Vanguard received an additional gameplay trailer during last year’s event, so Modern Warfare 2 seems like a good bet for this year – be sure to check out our guide on when to release the Modern Warfare 2 beta and how to play it. We can also see God of War: Ragnarok, FIFA 23 and the upcoming Survival-Horror The Callisto Protocol. Our personal most wanted list includes Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and obviously Starfield, but for now all we can do is speculate and wait.
The opening event will be streamed live on the official Game Awards YouTube and Twitch channels. As with previous times, it might be worth setting a half hour early, as past events have included a pre-show that occasionally featured announcements and new gameplay footage as well. And of course, if you’re planning to travel to Cologne, Germany and watch Gamescom in person, you can always buy your ticket on the event’s official website.
PCGamesN will be reporting live with Gamescom, bringing you updates on each new game and trailer as it becomes available. In the meantime, if you’re looking for more details on some of the bigger upcoming releases, check out our Starfield cities guide or our compilation of all the rumours, news and speculation around a possible GTA 6 release date, which we’re naturally hoping will be. sooner, sooner than later.
