Primitive City Builder Farthest Frontier Enters Steam Early Access

Farthest Frontier is the latest example of this trend, and it’s already a polished and in-depth experience when it enters Steam Early Access.

In Farthest Frontier, you control a gang of refugees from a big city who fled the oppressive regime that ruled in your old homeland. You’ll need to choose a site for your first buildings, then get to work cutting down trees, foraging for food, and providing everyone with enough firewood and shelter to keep warm as winter approaches.

Farthest Frontier may have only recently entered Early Access, but it already has an impressive array of features to play with. You’ll need to carefully plan the farming schedule on your farms, making sure to plant the correct crops for each season and allowing time for each plot to lie fallow. Finding clean water is key to fighting disease outbreaks like cholera, and encounters with wild animals can lead to rabies.

During the first years of operation, there are always more people who can do it, and it will seem that it will not be easy to bring things to a stable level. But that’s the beauty of survival games, isn’t it? Farthest Frontier lives on the outskirts, and you’ll feel it as you try to turn your little clan into a full-fledged city.

You can find Farthest Frontier on Steam, where you can pick it up for $29.99 / £24.99. The developers who previously made Grim Dawn, a Diablo-style RPG, believe that Farthest Frontier will likely stay in Early Access for 8-12 months, and currently have no plans to adjust pricing when the game launches.
