AMD RDNA 3 GPUs will launch ‘later this year’ to take on RTX 4000

AMD RDNA 3 GPUs are coming in a few months, with CEO Lisa Su confirming the company’s plans for high-end graphics cards. The Red Team boss says its new Radeon lineup is “another big step forward” in terms of gaming PC ambitions, as cards like the RX 7900 XT will challenge Nvidia’s RTX 4000 contenders with a “50th generation improvement.” % in performance per watt”.

During a recent earnings call, Lisa Su set a AMD RDNA 3 GPU release date window indicating high-end options coming “later this year” (via Fool). Although Su did not provide a specific ETA, the CEO’s rough plans suggest that the Radeon 7900 XT will arrive in the coming months.

The earnings call information matches previous AMD RDNA 3 release date rumors, with rumors pointing to an October or November release. If these rumors are confirmed, the next-gen Radeon lineup could launch right after its RTX 4000 rivals, as Nvidia is apparently launching its next-gen GeForce lineup in September.

That said, Team Green may not enter the battlefield with a full army, as there’s a chance only one RTX 4000 GPU, the RTX 4090, will arrive this year. That means we potentially won’t see the RTX 4080 or RTX 4070 until 2023, but additional rumors point to more delays, thanks to an overstock of the RTX 3000 series.

The next generation of PC gaming is just around the corner and all signs point to the imminent arrival of RDNA 3 and RTX 4000. Both companies are aiming for the crown of best graphics card, but AMD’s conscious approach to offering excellent performance per watt could give it its edge against Nvidia.
