According to Blizzard, a life-changing World of Warcraft raid bug that causes many skills to not work on more difficult Shadowlands raids is unlikely to be fixed soon. A bug that causes a wide range of different abilities to deal much less damage or healing in an MMORPG appears to be a more complex problem than originally anticipated.
In response to some initial reports of abilities dealing much less damage in the Fated Castle Nathria raid, Blizzard Community Manager Kyvax says, “We are aware of a bug that prevents certain player abilities from working in raids. Fated raids and we are working on it. So far, our investigation has revealed a complex problem that we do not expect to resolve quickly.” They emphasize that the team considers this issue a top priority.
Wire players report dramatic nerfs to the expected result. One Arcane user says that Touch of the Magi deals “about 10% of the expected damage”, while her Harmonic Echo ability deals about an eighth of the expected damage. It seems likely that this level of effectiveness reduction is permanent, as Monk Mistweaver reports that his power, Ancient Monastery Teachings, only heals 25% of the damage it deals instead of the expected 250%.
Some of the abilities currently listed by players as not working properly include:
- Wild Druid’s Rage Party
- Ursoc’s Wrathkeeper Druid Flashback
- Beastmaster Hunter’s Beast Cleave
- Fire Mage Domain: Ignite
- Touch of the Mages and Harmonic Echo of the Arcane Mage
- Monk Bone Powder Brew
- Mistweaver Monk Ancient Monastic Teachings
- Atonement for the Priest of Discipline
- Shadow Priest psychic link
- Rebel Blade Barrage
- Shadow Blades of Thief’s Cunning
- Wild Spirit Shaman Upgrades
Launching on August 2, Fated Castle Nathria is the first in a series of weekly rotations of three Shadowlands raids. Sanctum of Domination and Sepulcher of the First Ones will alternate in the coming weeks, each featuring a higher difficulty challenge with a similar level of items to obtain. Hopefully Blizzard can quickly find a fix for this issue as it could make raids unplayable for the affected specs.
Meanwhile, Dragonflight WoW’s alpha nerfs Shaman again after his latest buffs made the class too strong. We’ve got all the class sets for the first WoW Dragonflight raid, as well as taking a look at the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King Classic ahead of its release.
