Rainbow Six Siege’s MUTE protocol returns with a new set of weapons

Rainbow Six Siege MUTE Protocol cooperative FPS returns this month with a new game mode called Arms Race to the Goal. From August 2 to August 23, you can play this sci-fi themed mode to earn a new set of flesh and metal skins by destroying your opponents and upgrading your weapons.

This year, the MUTE protocol involves a “robotics” team and a “bios” team. The teams are symmetrical, with the same layout. The goal is to upgrade your weapon until you reach the final form, the Golden Hammer, which you can then use to smash the giant brain tank to win the round.

It works the same way as “gun game” modes in other FPS games: you upgrade your weapon every time you kill. Respawns are enabled, and every time you get killed, your weapon levels down.

Attackers start with Smoke’s FMG-9 and defenders with Mewt’s MP5K.

As usual, the MUTE protocol runs on a special version of the Comm Tower board. Each game consists of three rounds, and each of them takes place on different levels of the map.

This year’s event adds a new range of uniforms, headgear and weapons for your agents, but you can also pick up the Year 5 MUTE Protocol cosmetics if you missed something. Ubisoft says that if you bought any of the packs during the last MUTE Protocol event, you’ll get the corresponding operator card for free this time.
