TinyBuild and Igloosoft have announced Farworld Pioneers, a new sci-fi survival game scheduled for early access in 2023, and it gives us a great Terraria vibe, that is if Terraria had a physics-based nuke-shooter. In Farworld, you play as an explorer who has had a terrible accident and crashed on an unknown planet. Alone, cold and hungry, you will set out on a journey to find a way to stay alive against whatever the mysterious planet throws at you.
And it pulls you a lot. The usual weather effects like snowstorms and rain are a common hazard, but you also face radiation storms and other deadly obstacles that force you to find or build a shelter. It turns out that you are not as alone as it seems at first glance.
The planet is home to some pretty bad guys, including raiders who want to steal your hard-earned resources, but there’s also a loose group of survivors who could really use a leader like you to build them a shelter and offer them tips. Play your cards right and take care of those you rule, and you could end up building a prosperous new colony or five.
Farworld Pioneers promises a solid combat system with physics-based firefights, though Igloosoft uses “weapons” quite liberally. Sure, you can use guns, but you can also use beam weapons, rifles, and nuclear launchers and completely change the landscape of the planet in the process.
It’s a promising setup, and if you don’t want to wait to get your hands on it, you’re in luck. Igloosoft has released a Farworld Pioneers demo that will be available until August 8 if you want to try it out for yourself.
If you need more great survival games, Steam Survival Fest 2022 will be available until August 8 with great discounts and selections.
