So you want to know about Multiplayer in Saints Row? The 2022 reboot of Saints Row is almost here, bringing us another tongue-in-cheek take on Grand Theft Auto’s mix of crime and action.
The only thing more fun than running around and hitting people over the head with a dildo bat is doing it with friends, and that’s where Saints Row’s multiplayer mode comes in. We don’t know all the details yet, but we do know how some parts work. , and who you can team up with – read on.
Saints Row Co-op & Multiplayer
Most of the information we have on Saints Row multiplayer comes from a Game Informer exclusive: the reboot includes two-player co-op available from the start, with each player retaining a custom look for their characters. Players aren’t tied to each other either, meaning you don’t have to stick with your co-op partner if you don’t want to. The only exception is when one person starts a quest that teleports another player so they can complete it together.
There’s also cross-progression, which applies to everything from collectibles to quest progress. If you complete a later mission in someone else’s save, you won’t have to do it again when you return to your world when you reach the mission on your own. Finally, there will be a “draw” counter; players can complete tasks to turn their teammate into an inanimate object.
Crossplay in Saints Row
Unfortunately, things get a little weird in Saints Row crossplay. Speaking to GamesRadar+, publisher Deep Silver confirmed that a “cross-gen” game is available, but not a “cross-console” game. Basically, PS4 and PS5 users can play together, and the same goes for Microsoft consoles, but an Xbox player cannot play with a Playstation user.
It has also not been confirmed if PC gamers can play on any of the console brands, so stay tuned for more information.
