Roblox’s infamous “ugh” sound that players often hear when their avatars crash and are about to respawn in-game will no longer be available on the platform, at least for the foreseeable future. Roblox shared the update through its official Twitter account. as part of a revision of my vision to add sounds to the avatar store.
“In terms of sounds, due to a licensing issue we have removed the ‘ugh’ sound from Roblox and instead created a default sound that is released today,” the post reads. “In the future, we plan to expand our avatar store with a variety of old and new sounds. More information.
Where players used to hear the “ph” sound, which is one of the most recognizable sounds on the platform, they now hear the default sound. The players reacted quickly to the change by throwing Tag #SaveTheOOF and share memes and jokes about the new sound.
Roblox has suggested that in the future, creators will be able to customize sounds the same way they customize avatars.
This is not the first time Roblox has removed the “ugh” sound from the platform. Audio has a rich history, as first reported by VentureBeat. Although he rose to fame in the gaming community due to his appearance on Roblox, he first appeared in a little-known game called Messiah that was released in 2000.
