For most of us mere mortals, Clash is the closest thing to a truly competitive stage in League of Legends. Periodically, a game mode appears where a preconstructed team of five players must compete in a single-elimination bracket, with each member earning some sort of prize based on where their team finished.
To participate in the tournament, each player must provide a ticket, which can be purchased with RP or Blue Essence. Naturally, due to the premium nature of Clash, when something goes wrong, the members get very angry.
After numerous issues during the July 14 iteration of The Shadow Isles Cup, players were quick to list their complaints about Reddit. The initial poster complains that his team can’t access the Matchups tab in the League client, that it’s stuck on “match starts soon” for too long, and that the scout phase for round two doesn’t show information.
These problems were repeated by many other players. None of the competitors in North America had any issues: One user said his team won the overall tournament but received no rewards.
Riot Executive Producer, Bright Moon, tweeted to confirm technical issues: “I know some of you had issues with Clash yesterday, we’re working on fixing the root cause and will provide Clash with a refund to those affected.”
Players will have another chance to test their Clash skills on August 6 during the Zaun Cup. I hope everything goes much better next time.
