Bungie announced on Thursday that the next Destiny 2 Showcase livestream will take place on August 23, 2022.

Following the announcement, Bungie released a 47-second trailer titled “No Escape” which delves into Light and Dark’s story thus far.
Additionally, in a blog post, Bungie announced in preparation for the rollout that all of its regular TWABs would not be releasing any major news or new announcements until then. Therefore, all eyes of the Destiny community should be focused on the event itself.
Of course, this event is certain to officially unveil the free online-only FPS in its 18th season alongside Destiny 2: Lightfall, the latest expansion in the Light and Darkness saga.
After 2020’s Beyond Light and February’s The Witch Queen, Lightfall will likely end in 2023 before Destiny’s first saga finally comes to an end with its latest expansion, The Final Shape.
It would have made sense for Bungie to start shipping the expansion two full seasons earlier, with Lightfall still having some time to release.
As seen in Season of the Lost, players already knew that Savathun would sever her ties and gain Witch Queen status.
