The Steam Deck library now has over 4,000 verified games to play, meaning you can install more of its library on your handheld with confidence. While games without a badge can still run on Valve’s portable powerhouse, the company’s certification system helps ensure compatibility and performance.
A dedicated Gamingonlinux “Steam Verified Deck” badge is now included in 1,867 games, with a further 2,140 classified as playable. Again, that doesn’t mean you have to stick with these games, as you can even run “unsupported” editions on a portable device. Sure, you might have to fiddle with files or put up with oddities, but if you’re using a regular gaming PC, you’ll still have to put up with it at some point.
Needless to say, the Steam Deck library is growing as the number of games verified and available to play has doubled since April. Not only do older games get their patches, but new releases like the futuristic feline adventure Stray come out with a shiny verified bell on their necks.
However, the system is not completely sealed and there is always a chance that you will find a critical bug in an apparently compatible game. The system isn’t necessarily performance-conscious either, meaning you’ll have to tweak settings to increase framerates and balance images.

Valve’s Steam Deck has been updated, and the company is still taking pre-orders for avid enthusiasts. The retail giant recently revealed that it’s doubling down on deliveries to get the mini car into more hands, but there’s still no sign of the previously announced Steam Deck.
Game compatibility may also be the least of our concerns during ongoing heat waves, as Valve says Steam Deck performance may take a hit in warmer conditions. In other words, you don’t have to play on a lounger, even if you have the fancy anti-glare version.
