The Lost Ark Arcanist class is just around the corner, with a battle royale pool party, insanely challenging raids, and an exclusive power pass. This is all part of the latest Lost Ark update, Spells in Spades, which will be released on July 20 and is shaping up to be a bigger update than the one we saw in June. According to Smilegate, the mage uses cards for magical attacks and as physical weapons, throwing cards at enemies and cutting them to pieces, but the real draw of the new MMO class is in the stacking and ruin effects. Stack abilities place stacks on the enemy, as their name suggests, while destruction abilities consume existing stacks to deal additional damage. Plan your attacks carefully and you’ll be able to cover ground with the Enchanter.
Spells in Spades also adds a Hell difficulty for Valtan Raid in Lost Ark, and while it’s a natural stage in terms of difficulty, you also don’t get penalized for trying and failing, or succeeding. . Running a raid on Hell difficulty doesn’t count towards your weekly limit, but you don’t receive the normal rewards either. On Hell difficulty, you get Stronghold items, titles, and achievements, among other things.
If you need more challenges, try Void Dungeons. This new feature uses the harmony gauge to match your team level to the enemy commander, and if you’re successful, you’ll receive a wider selection of better rewards.
The limited-time Maharaka Festival is taken to the next level, with pool festivities and battle royale style gameplay where players compete to be the last one standing in the pool. The Maharaka Festival also has its own event and currency store, and the in-game store gets a set of summer-themed skins and mounts.
And finally, the Punika Powerpass, which is awarded to anyone who completes all purple adventure missions in Punika and becomes an honorary citizen. This Powerpass gets you to item level 1302, but it will only be available until September 28. Along with the Punika Powerpass, the Hyper Express event will upgrade characters to item level 1370 and also give them enchanting materials.
The Lost Ark update includes a number of other fixes, including item progression changes, explained by Amazon in the patch notes. It doesn’t include the lovely Mokoko lamps, which is a shame.
The mage is not the last advanced class to appear in Lost Ark. Check out all of the additional new Lost Ark classes in our handy list.
