League of Legends patch 12.14 changes again after backlash

In an attempt to “fine tune” the proposed changes for patch 12.14 released yesterday, League of Legends lead designer Matt Leung-Harrison tweeted today which champions are getting buffs/nerfs. They state that the design team will “make changes to the Teleporter as well”, choosing instead to focus on stability for the rest of the season.

Riot’s proposed teleport nerfs have received overwhelmingly negative reception, with some esports team analysts even going so far as to say that the change would reduce the importance of top lane to the point of being nearly obsolete.

Most of the information provided by Matt Leung-Harrison relates to Gangplank; his first laning phase was too strong and Riot wants to reduce that as he shifts focus from hitting his explosive barrels. The changes offset some of the more permanent damage from Gangplanks Q’s ability, but also tilt him towards critical hit chance for maximum damage with his full set.

Another article provides a list of champion changes, most of which are currently a mystery. One of the changes noted was a buff to Pateon in Jungle Stance, as her PBE build recently received a 70% to 120% monster damage increase to her Comet Spear (Q) ability. That could be enough to dislodge Pantheon from his seemingly standard support position, to the delight of all ADCs, I’m sure.

In terms of champion nerfs, Zeri seems to be in the line of fire once again. She struggles to find a place on the regular Summoner’s Rift, and many of her changes are dictated by professional play. Serafina (specifically a bot) also gets a nerf; Matt doesn’t say exactly what she is, but it seems particularly depressing at the moment, with his healing and defense, as well as his ability to deal an inordinate amount of AoE damage.

This may be the last time we see any big changes implemented before the World Cup, with the lead designer saying he is “expecting small fixes” before the end of the year. We can usually expect to see Riot’s full patch notes around 24 hours after one of these previews, so it won’t be long until we find out exactly what his plan is.
