Sumeru release date speculation
Current rumors indicate that Sumeru will be released alongside Genshin Impact 3.0. Recently, more information about the new Closed Beta region was leaked, including a map of Sumeru.
As for the release date of patch 3.0, we do not have a confirmed release date. However, we can assume that the next big update will happen around August. Genshin Impact 2.7 delay aside, Hoyoverse usually runs on a six-week update cycle, and since Genshin Impact 2.8 released on July 13, the next version’s release date will be around July 24. August 2022. .
It stands to reason that the next patch will be Genshin Impact 2.9, but Hoyoverse has skipped patch releases in the past: after the 1.7 update, the studio immediately jumped to patch 2.0, which introduced Inazuma to the game. There are also no known rumours. Regarding 2.9: All current speculation is for 3.0 or later.

Until we know how to get to Sumeru, Ubatch data miner states that this region lies to the left of the Abyss. A group of Reddit users also recently discovered a new tunnel leading through the abyss, making it more likely that Sumeru could appear there.

Various versions of the Sumeru map have appeared online in recent weeks. Genshin Impact leader Sagiri recently shared an in-game render showing all the teleport locations, statues, and various map markers. As far as we know, here is the Sumeru map from beta 3.0:

Sagiri also posted some screenshots supposedly taken from scattered locations throughout the region. These images show everything from sleepy nature-filled villages to dense forests and mysterious swamps.
