With World of Warcraft’s next expansion, WoW Dragonflight, now available to everyone, players across Azeroth have decided to play out their journey as Draktir. With a wide range of different customization options in the character editor, I asked producing director Pat Dawson if other races would get the same treatment in the future.
Character customization has long been a problem for World of Warcraft fans. While some races have a large number of accessories in their virtual wardrobe, others, such as pandaren and worgen, remain somewhat limited.
As we excitedly discussed in the WoW Dragonflight pre-alpha, the Draktyr are a completely different breed. Not only are they literally dragons, but they have a huge collection of customization options, including one that appears to be named after the iconic Overwatch duo.
Azeroth’s other races have turned green with envy (or, in the case of the Forsaken, with rot), so we asked Blizzard’s WoW production manager, Pat Dawson, if there were any plans to change the level of Draktir for other races.
“We’re always looking for new ways to improve character customization,” Dawson tells us. “We really started this work on Shadowlands in earnest when we started adding all the cool new customizations you see in the game today.
“Obviously the Drakt are the most fantastic race, but we really wanted to offer a lot of customization.” He goes on to say, with a smile, that “we did some math and there are more customization options than there are grains of sand in the universe, so we really did it all, we wanted to make sure you could create a view.” .” you won’t see it anywhere else.”
Addressing the rest of Azeroth’s inhabitants, he said, “For other races and classes; that’s what we’re going to see, and if we can improve it, we certainly will.”
Draktyr first appeared in WoW as they are a race and class combined into one. If you want to dive into the alpha and give them a try, be sure to pick the best WoW addons to help you on your journey.
