Players eagerly awaiting revisions to FFXIV Astrologian and Dragoon will have to wait a bit, as the development team has decided to delay any major changes until the next release of the MMORPG expansion. Speaking during Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter Digest 71, which also featured the island shrine, the team said the planned changes were significant enough that they felt better waiting for a major expansion before releasing them.
Initially, during a live letter, FFXIV producer Yoshi-P noted that more work was needed for the planned adjustments to both Astrologer and Dragoon, so they would not be released with patch 6.2 as originally intended. The team has now confirmed that they plan to delay until the expansion is released, which likely means 7.0 arrives, due to the sheer scale of the hotfix.
“Making significant adjustments to work at a fundamental level will result in a lot of change,” says Live Letter Digest LXXI. “The sheer number of changes would make it difficult to fully explain our intentions for each, so we think we need to wait until the expansion is released to make adjustments of this magnitude.”
The team assures players that minor adjustments will be made to both professions in the meantime so they don’t fall for it. The post also notes that explanations of the 6.2 tweaks will be released separately from the 6.2 patch notes to clearly explain the intent behind each change.
An FFXIV 6.2 update called Buried Memory is currently scheduled for late August. The multiplayer community recently came together to honor the work of series composer Masayoshi Shoken with a 1,000-player choir singing Close in the Distance.
