We have written a guide on how to make aluminum alloy at Astroneer.
Astroneer is a space education adventure game that takes players on a journey through space using the power of aerospace engineering. It takes place in the 25th century “Age of Intergalactic Exploration”, when astronauts search for new planets, new materials and do their best to survive in each new environment. The game has its own crafting system where players can refine resources found in nature to create useful materials to create and shape their own experience.
One such material is aluminum alloy.
An aluminum alloy can be made using a chemistry table to combine copper and aluminum. But first, players will need to find and smelt the ores needed to create these two metals.
The copper comes from malachite, which forms as green and rusty-orange nodules that form clumps that protrude from the ground. They are usually found in mountainous areas and contrast sharply with the monotonous background that provides much of this terrain. With collected malachite ores, players can return to their bases and smelt them to create copper.
Aluminum can be made from laterite, a dark red circular ore in the shape of a metallic disc whose nodules are often seen in caves. Depending on the cave, it may be difficult for players to see it as it may be at different heights rising from the ground. Laterite, like malachite, can be smelted at the base of the player to create aluminum.
Once players have crafted these two materials, they can take them both to the chemistry table to create an aluminum alloy. This incredibly useful material is used to make solar panels, shuttles, rovers and more.
